[26. September. 2005] New Update:

Cappadonna's Upcoming Album [The Transition]:  He is known as Cappachino The Great and Donna Cappa Goines, Cappadonna first emerged in 1995, spitting serious darts on "Ice Cream" and "Ice Water" from Raekwon's classic Only Built For Cuban Linx.... The following year he dropped an excellent (and hard to find) 12" called "Drastic  Measures." He lent sizzling verses on "Wu-Wear" and "Winter Warz," (from the soundtracks of High School High and Don't Be A Menace...,) and also contributed to several tracks on Ghostface's classic debut Ironman. Known for his colorful slang and dedication to staying dipped, Cappa represented on both Wu Tang Forever and The W. He released his first solo album, The Pillage in '98, The Yin , The Yang followed in '01 , The Struggle '03 and soon to be released The Transition. For most true ghetto-raised and respected emcees that have sipped from the cup of international success, Cappadonna's journey is one of enlightenment and universal illumination. which he calls himself "THE UN-ORDINARY LIGHT" the posessor of mad skilled microphone combat on the front lines of Wu-Tang Clan and the Infamous Killer Bees army, along with the 1998 success of the groundbreaking Gold-selling solo set, AFRICAN KILLER BEES PRESENTS: THE PILLAGE, and one stellar name emerges --

CAPPADONNA!
Now, ushers in the newest and strongest musical chapter in Cappa's ever-evolving hip-hop story. Entitled THE TRANSITION, it's a lethal album of lyrical substance, unique and straight from the street . Cappadonna, the last to join the Wu-Tang Clan, and the first to be acknowledged as
"the cat with the longest darts" he wants to elevate his individual artistic identity. "This album," he adds, "represents me coming out of a state of hell into heaven , "understanding equality that is 36 and that borns born which means i understand my worth, i know my worth, in short, thats why the album is called "THE TRANSITION" Keeping checking this site or log on to  or Cappadon' official website www.cappadon.com for more updates.

The RZA Revisited:

An arresting storyteller, philosopher and anthropologist, the RZA is at his best when he just riffs. We've assembled some of these moments in our RZA reel o'rama.

On the origins of the Wu Tang sword...
Shaolin fit in with the mental part of life; the Shaolin discipline was able to produce the Wu Tang sword. The person who invented the sword according to the history I read was a monk named Shien Tseng Fei. He was a great martial artist, but he wasn't in depth into Buddhism; he actually had more Daoist thoughts in him. He ended up leaving Shaolin; some say he was exiled and expelled, some say he left on his own. But he walked to Wu Tang mountain, which was started by General Wu hundreds of years earlier and founded a place of peace, true enlightenment within himself.

On the parallels between Shaolin and Staten Island...
How it fits into the Wu Tang philosophy and the urban culture is that Staten island -- where we grew up, were disciplined at, had our fights at -- that's Shaolin, but we're the Wu Tang clan. Because the Shaolin monks were really good guys, but we weren't good guys -- we had good principles, but a lot of actions that weren't considered good.

On brotherhood...
To me -- being the abbot of Wu Tang, which was what they called me -- the brotherhood in martial arts movies is almost unsurpassed. These days you can't find movies like that while in those days, you'd see how a man would just give his life for another hero. Let's say that you're Fun Su Yi. [martial arts hero] I've never met you, but I've heard of you, and I know what you stand for. You get into a big fight, and I don't know you, but I jump in and risk my life and possibly die so that Fun Su Yi can live another day and fight. To me that's true brotherhood, honor, respect.

On Asians, Blacks, and Melanin...
When I was able to understand what the Asian brothers were talking about and also that Black and Asian history go way beyond what we all know ... when you look at Buddha, genetically, he was considered what they would call in school, a Negroid. It shows that really all of us are melanated people; it's a dominant element, but it's a bio element that has a life to it. It seems to act intelligently and we all possess it heavily. We have it more than the Caucasian; we have it in our skin and our brain. So we're all in sync with each other; the only one out of sync was the Caucasian and he had to become in sync through religion and the books we left for him.

On the history of Shaolin...
In 36 chambers, when I saw the monks fighting, defending, fighting oppression, learning philosophy, building their minds bodies -- this was supposed to be 500-1500 years ago. I mean, this is the history from that part of the world that I didn't even know happened. So then I started researching, led me to boundless amounts of truth, came back to Wu Tang, found out what it really meant. Man deservant to be God, trying to rise up to God's level, and that's exactly what we were trying to do in our own neighborhood.

On this generation...
This is a white country; we've added color to it over the years, but there's still over 150 million white people in this country. Well you may say there's 20 million Asian, 40-50 million Blacks, Latinos -- can't compare. And they've been running this country for over 200 years, this has been their spot; they've killed anyone who's tried to take it from them. They've enslaved mentally, physically, economically anyone who came. But in this unique generation, we're free, free in the mind -- your parents came over as immigrants, but not you, you were born here. And the equilibrium is here, you're part of this culture, American culture; hip-hop is an American thing. We're all growing up, young white men growing up with us; before we weren't in the same classes as each other, different classes, different neighborhoods.

On many faces, many styles...
I can vouch personally ... some Asian dudes came to my studio recently. I met them at a Wu Tang show. They were cool kids, we smoked a little weed together, they had their own little zone: one guy did the beats, one guy the lyrics, one guy the art; they had talent, simple as that. And they were only 19 years old. It's beautiful right now, look at the rock 'n' roll group with the Asian brother -- Linkin Park. You'd watch them before you'd watch the Rolling Stones, because that's the old America. With Linkin Park, you see the new America -- many faces, many styles. That'll eventually happen with hip-hop in this country.

On Asian cinema in America...
Look at Quentin Tarantino; he did a great job. I read the script for Kill Bill; he wrote in the fight scenes, he choreographed them straight from his mind. Then you look at The Matrix -- both films had Yuen Woo Ping, the great choreographer -- but the guys from The Matrix, they didn't visualize. I think I've seen enough Asian movies, taken enough martial arts classes -- I could make a movie equally good as a martial artist from Asia. The problem now is that martial artists aren't making these movies anymore. You watch 36 Chambers and Lau Kar Leung who directed it. He was a martial artist. You look at Sammo Hung; he's a martial artist. Nowadays, non-martial artists are making movies; no disrespect to Andy Lau, but look at House of Flying Daggers -- he's not a martial artist. Chow Yun Fat in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: he's not a martial artist. It has to go back to letting the martial artists making the films, or at least someone engulfed in it -- QT [Quentin Tarantino] is engulfed in it. I think I'm a good director for America, because one of the problems for Asian directors is that they usually go through Asian companies and subtitles and you may get the audience in there, you may not. If you can find somebody -- Bruce Lee, for instance; Enter the Dragon was a blockbuster smash. But he was bilingual, educated in both worlds, translatable in both worlds. I think this generation will produce one; if not the RZA himself, someone else.

On fetishization...
The problem with Americans getting ahold of the Asian culture is that they aren't showing total respect for it. It's a fetish; they think it's funny, they think that true art is being displayed comedically. It's nothing to laugh at -- it's thousands of years of tradition. You don't bring a culture here and exploit it and water it down because when people see it, they'll believe that's what it really is.

On the samurai...
The first samurai film i saw was a Lone Wolf movie. I realized that the Japanese samurai, they don't play that shit. With Chinese kung-fu movies, they get up there and kick, scream, block, might last ten minutes before someone dies. I see Shogun Assassin, soon as you move, you're dead. That brought me to a whole different level of respect.

On Shaolin versus the ninja...
They made a movie called Shaolin challenges the Ninja where Gordon Liu fights the karata; it's the Wu Tang sword versus the ninja sword. Wu Tang sword wins because the Japanese thrust is a thrust; in kung-fu your mind must follow your energy, your energy must follow your blow. So when you strike a hard blow and you miss, your energy is over there. Whereas the Wu Tang sword is the wrist to the tip, it's like a whip, even if you miss, you're still right here. I think that means something.

On John Woo and Donnie Yen...
John Woo's a master. He's still being copied and duplicated in every movie almost. I feel like his last few movies have been him making American movies; he's had big budgets and big opportunities, but while he's been doing that, young filmmakers are making his movies. I think Donny Yen is one of the best choreographers and directors out there; the TV series he produced for AZN TV called Fists of Fury -- same story as Chinese Connection -- it's a mini-series, about six hours. Incredible. I'm talking about one of the best martial arts ever filmed. For some reason, Donnie Yen's the unsung hero. He's like Inspectah Deck in Wu-Tang Clan.

On Wu-Tang presenting kung-fu flicks...
We didn't get a chance to choose every film. It was what was available. People came at us with certain titles. You had to go to hell to come up with a good kung-fu flick or even a copy of one, but they started resubmerging after the first Wu-Tang platinum album. But by the time Wu-Tang had become hip-hop icons, people were starting to put out titles with false titles, taking titles from our songs. For instance, there's a movie called Poisonous Darts -- there's never been a movie called Poisonous Darts, that's just a title of our song. Mr. Digital --they took an old movie and changed the title and put them all out. People who were doing that, with the Brooklyn Zoo collection, the Wu-Tang collection, with their scrawny, ugly, fake Wu Tang W -- I was like yo, we gotta get to these boys, get in touch with them. So we did and told them they were disrespecting the whole game of it. They were smart businessmen -- if you can't beat 'em, join 'em, right? -- so they made a deal, sold us about 20-30 titles; we put it together, put some movies out.

One reason why i did it; personally I'm the kind of guy who likes the world how I want to enjoy it. If i want to find a manga tape of Ninja Scroll, I don't wanna have to go two, three hours to find it; I wanna go to Blockbuster where i get everything else at. I don't get any reward for doing this -- no money, at least -- but I get the satisfaction that the world's a better place for me.

On Chinese literature...
I read The Five Chinese Brothers when I was a kid; that's an old folktale, it sticks in your head, it was a great story. It helped my imagination; when I saw the 5 Deadly Venoms, that was the first thing I reflected back upon. You gotta give a lot of respect to the Asian world; Confucious who believed in ethics, etiquette, those codes of conduct have survived. Like, my shi fu, he's the nicest guy, he could kill you with one punch, but he's the nicest guy. The prophet Mohammed, he wouldn't even spit without covering his mouth; he didn't want you to see that. The Asian people kept such a great etiquette about that -- that fascinated my life. You wanna talk about literature, you talk about the Dao De Ching, the I-Ching. Or the Heart Sutra; a lot of great things written by great men -- Mencius a well. Also, the things Lao Tzu and Sun Tzu wrote on how you should act in government, at home, how kids should act with their parents. Most American folk stories would end up with Hansel and Gretel, but with Chinese folk stories, you're catchin' proverb after proverb. I think that's better for children. I have two books of ancient folktales from China; I let my kids read them, they're able to use all that.

On going to China...
One word to describe it: enlightening. I got a chance to consolidate a lot of ideas I had in my head, to clean out a lot of falsehoods, movie magic. I thought the White Lotus god existed. But that's actually from some Chinese literature, a series of books that mentioned the Shaolin temple, but the characters were just used fictiously. For instance, if you watch a movie about the Civil War, like Cold Mountain, the events are real, but the characters are just characters. I met the abbot of the Wu tang, I'm like, what's up with the Shaolin-Wu Tang beef? It's not as bad as you would believe when you watch the movies.

Also, with the Asiatic thing, as I talk about this, it's sometimes uncomfortable, the Black man is looked at the lowest man in our society, but to go over there, and see the Black man's influence of peace around the world, even in the middle mountainous areas of China. When I see the Wu Tang mountains, I saw the temple built for Jennifer Wu, I went to General Wu's temple of the purple clouds, you see all these statues, all these Asian people, and you get to General Wu: he's a black guy amidst all these Asian people. At first I was like um, I didn't know what to think, the abbot didn't even know what to tell me. He said maybe it was just the artist wanting to separate the people. But then there's one more temple higher up; in Chinese culture, the mother and father are higher than the king. So I go up those stairs, then I see a bunch of Asian statues here, a bunch there; then in the middle, a black man, black woman, black child.

It's like you look at someone like Buddha and you can see that he risked his life for the world and I know the benevolence my people have is inherent. Benevolent people, we're born naturally benevolent, you just wanna share it with the world. The same thing about Bodhiyana; he migrated from Africa to South India to start a kingdom; Buddhism is in China, but there were only about 2000 temples in the beginning. By the time he left, 35,000, and when he got there, what did they say to him? He's tall, he's dark -- they discriminated on him. But he changed their whole world. We all start from one man, and that man was righteous, and whoever can uphold that righteousness, he must share with the world.

On geopolitics...
I don't mean to separate them, but I don't understand why Taiwan ain't China. Politically, I understand. But how can you have North Korea and South Korea; that's stupid. Only one who benefits then is the ones who separated y'all, and that's stupid. I hope no one gets mad about it, but we discriminate against ourselves. Like Jamaicans; how are they different? Why cause he talk like Marley, why cause they dropped you off on that island, they dropped me off on this island? Gets to the point where East Coast and West coast are beefin; it's just stupid.

On Asian culture in society today...
Elijah Mohammed said that Chinese people were ordained by God to preserve all this history for everybody to enjoy in their last days. If the Chinese people weren't like this, the world wouldn't know it, if the world didn't know it, there would be no help for this world. When you look at the influx of Buddhism, yoga, martial arts in our society, getting everybody in society to calm down. That's why I'm not ashamed to be like, Wu Tang. Brothas told me to get off that Chinese shit. Like, what? You act like they ain't my brothers, they my brothers. We've got our own problems. You really wanna take the history of it, if Buddha gave it back to them, it's only right that they give it back to us. You've gotta admit it too, since the Wu era and martial arts, a lot of the homeboys check out the Asian sisters, a lot of the Asian brothers gettin the hot black sisters. I see an Asian brother chillin with dreds; it's a better world. It's mostly the hip-hop community, but it's a better world.

On his first film...
The movie's gonna be called The Man with the Iron Fist. I'm looking forward to making a classic, for it to go on the shelf with the old classics. I'm taking a modern approach to it but at the same time, to pay homage. Lau Kar Leung is 70 years old, has cancer; I wish I could meet him, I have great respect for him and his art. I think The Man with the Iron Fist will pay homage back to the Asian culture; I consider it my culture, one culture, whoever feels different argue to yourself. This movie will pay homage to it. I know there ain't a whole lot of people out there like me, so when you see the movie, you won't see a whole lot of people like me in it.

[15. September. 2005] New Update:

U-God Speaks To Wu-International: Hip Hop Rap Artist U-God also known as UGodzilla Of The Wu-tang Clan just dropped he’s latest album, Mr. Xcitement on the 13th of September. Nearly a decade after first coming into the game with the intentions of shifting the entire power structure within the music industry, U-God continues to reinvent both himself and the climate around his art. His latest LP, Mr. Xcitement, is a testament to his artistic development and proof that time rears wisdom. Enriched with a bevy of styles, the follow-up to U-God’s critically acclaimed debut, Golden Arms Redemption, is a well rounded album that incorporates as many characters as it does musical influences. "Mr. Xcitement ain’t just about partying," tells U-God. "Mr. Xcitement is a drug dealer/killer/pimp. I spent four years writing this album, I took my time—I didn't rush the shit."

Variety has a lot to do with U-God’s appeal. The fact that he is able to touch on so many different topics and morph his character into someone who is still relevant today says a lot about his ever-changing mic skills. “Niggas don’t realize the U in U-God stands for universal,” he explains. “It means no boundaries, infinity, it goes on forever. There’s no shape or form that you could say, ‘That’s U.G. right there.’ You’re always gonna be like damn that’s him?”
Even if you don’t recognize the man on the mic you will learn to love what he’s done for rap now as much as ever.

Wu-International recently had the privilege of conducting a brief interview with the God himself, and broke down the Wu-tang rumors, the album, upcoming projects and so on, Read On..

Dark 7: Thanks very much  for taking the time out to answer these questions. Please tell us how you hooked up with Don King?
U-God: That was a crazy situation, I don’t really want to tell you that or people will start copying me (laughing).

Dark 7: Your new album, Mr Xcitement is about to come out, What was the creative process like?
U-God: I did the album in three places, New York, Florida and Los Angeles so it was crazy. I made enough for 3 three albums of work.

Dark 7: What is like living in L.A?
U-God: I’m still in New York though LA is like my second home. I love LA, recorded part of the album and shot the video there.

Dark 7: What was it like working with the likes Of MC Eith, Binky and those westcoast Rappers?
U-God: Just like working with New York niggaz, they came in, did their jobs and mutherfuckin threw it down. Eiht is one of the fastest writing niggaz I’ve met in my life. He’s the King of LA.

Dark 7: There are updates online that The Wu-Tang Clan's album is about 10 tracks deep without any vocals from you, Ghost or Cappadonna yet, is that true and when will you be laying your vocals down as we all know it is not a Wu-tang album without you?
U-God: Don’t believe everything you hear about Wu-Tang recording process or take everything you hear as the gospel truth. It blows my mind the amount of lies and propaganda that gets spread around. Plus if I hear a Wu track that ain’t the truth to me, I’m not trying to hear it. Much love for that last comment.

Dark 7: You released The Hillside Scramblers CD and a DVD some time back, will they be a follow up to the Hillside project?
U-God: We gonna see. I’d say most definitely I’ll be putting out a DVD next year. Right now, I’m all about the Mr Xcitement album.

Dark 7: You released this album under the moniker Ugodzilla? Please break down the meaning behind the name?
U-God: I’m a Beast when it comes to this music. Ugodz-illa stompin’ the Metro.

Dark 7: Your Protégé Leathaface has been around for a while and he's quite nice, can we expect anything from him soon?
U-God: Yes. Check him out on Mr Xcitement. Me and Face go way back. He’s lyrically dangerous and yet most people don’t know how dope a producer he is. He did the beats for half the record, basically. You should hear what I got in the vaults. Incredible. We’re working on his album now.

Dark 7: You had an EP out on Koch some time back called "Supanigga" What happened with that release? Was it supposed to be followed by an album or was it just an EP?
U-God: It wasn’t on Koch and it was actually just a 12inch deal on a small distributor called Landspeed. ‘Face murdered the WildStyle Superfreak track. Homocide did the beat. Check that 12inch out, it’s a collectors item.

Dark 7: Oh yes, Landspeed is what i meant, What can the fans expect from U-God, As in future projects and endeavours?
U-God: Not being afraid to push the envelop with this rap shit. Not being afraid to try something. People need to know I’m musically adventurous. I’m going to try new shit whether you like it or not. I let the Wu be the Wu when it comes to Wu-Tang albums but on solo albums I want to do what I want to do and try things I can’t do within the limits of Wu.

Dark 7: Do you log onto the net regularly? If so which sites do you visit?
U-God: I’m an analog brother still but my peeps got me into this whole myspace thing which has been a great way to hear directly from my real fans. Check it out a myspace.com/ugodzilla. I wish I had time to stay on it and answer everybody, the love has been rewarding.

Dark 7: Please check out www.wu-international.com from time to time when you have the time :-)
U-God: (Laughing) I’ll do that for a brother

Dark 7: Will you be planning any tour to promote your album, and will you be touring Europe?
U-God: All promoters reach out to me at myspace.com/ugodzilla. We’ve got dates planned but am continually looking for more shows. I’m heading to Switzerland right after this interview.

Dark 7: How do you view Europe in terms of Hiphop and touring over there against back home in US?
U-God: Europe has more energy and spirit at their shows. The US crowd more or less don’t want to get their clothes dirty or break a sweat. We played to huge festivals in Europe that’d blow you away. As far as HipHop, Europe tends to like that raw underground joints much more than the US.

Dark 7: Any last words to the fans?
U-God: Much love and support throughout the years thru all the ups and downs. Much blessin’ to all the families out there. Get money and have babies, multiply! All the support is much appreciated. Yea man.

Wu-International would like to thank U-God, Mark Copeland, Binky Mac & Robert for making this interview possible.

Log On to http://www.myspace.com/ugodzilla For the Bump Remix Opportunities: Download the instrumental and vocals (Accapella) of the track "Bump", and remix it yourself, Anyone and everyone can send their remix in whatever the hell style they want and with whoever they want to add as a guest on the track, whatever, to info@freeagencyrecordings.com. It’s not a contest, but an opportunity.  U-God just wanted to make the parts available and see who’s got next out there in this world, you never know what can spring out from this.

Dom Pachino Presents NLZ [Nefariuz Lyrical Zen]: Of Team Naplam, Not many people knew much about NLZ, until he burst into the speakers through Dom Pachino's release of Napalm World early this year. NLZ aka War Machine spent 5 years in the military & thru the experiences and time away he grew and understood things on a different plane. Building with a number of GODs & Earths, he absorbed knowledge and  an Inner G.I and became well diverse in any environment or topic thus resurrecting a great writing & rhyme abilities. While living in Korea for a year he formed a squad called ILL KLIK  and they put out tapes which was well  received. Returned to the states in 95 and formed a squad called "Universoul Soldiers" which eventually became "The Headtuchaz". Performing in many venues he had the chance of meeting a number of Wu-tang killa beez such as Blue Raspberry, and from there met more and more members of the extensive Wu-Fam. After bad deals and setbacks, he set out on his own, recorded projects & hit the road with Dom Pachino (PR Terrorist) and went on to develop an off shoot from KILLARMY known as TEAM NAPALM. Since releasing Napalm World in Jan 05, Wu fans worldwide had embraced them and other Wu-tang killa beez members and fellow artists had shown support, such as that from Chambermusik owner and CEO, G-Clef of the Soul Kid Klik fam, who services their albums through demand distribution online.

Re-releasing his first album online and launching a new site, NLZ had this to say "This year look for multiple releases from our camp.1 thing to remember whether u think you a gangster, pimp, ho, thug remember GOD only sees you as human. I'm none of the foremost mentioned, I'm me being myself ain't nothin greater you can love me or leave me alone feel me, the world is yours...so as these days continue acknowledge GOD 1st ..peep my music get to know me PEACE".

True indeed, get to know the man, check out his new site for info, updates, photos, news, music, future projects and more, click at the photo above or click http://www.nlzonline.com/ Expect new album from NLZ, and also collaborative album with Dom Pachino tentatively  titled War & Terror is currently in works.

[07. September. 2005] New Update:

Hurricane Katrina: Wu-International would like to send out our best wishes to all those who were affected directly and indirectly by the the hurricane katrina in New Orleans last week. Donations can be made to the Red Cross to help raise funds in assisting the victims. Search For Missing People

Latest RZA / Wu-tang Updates: RZA had a baby born on the 2nd of September, RZA, who has been living in LA for a while since he departed New York last year, has been busy in the studio working on various Wu-Tang projects.

First of all, there's good news about Cuban Linx [Part II]. While various producers, including Dr.Dre and Nottz have laced Raekwon with beats for the highly anticipated album, it is The RZA who will now be responsible for 90% of the production. Other good news is that all of the Wu-Tang Clan members have returned to their infamous Wu-Gambinos characters for the album including GZA/Genius as Maximillion who has been recording many songs with Raekwon lately. Busta Rhymes is still involved as an executive producer.

Another special appearance on Cuban Linx [Part II] comes from Red Hot Chilli Pepper guitarist John Frusciante who has been camping in RZA's studio for a few days. RZA and John reportedly recorded five beats together but where they will end up remains uncertain. Daron Malakian, guitarist of System Of A Down has also been in RZA's studio for a few days recording up to 10 songs with RZA.

Method Man is back in the lab writing after recording 8 tracks with RZA. There's no word on his release yet. On a brighter side, Inspectah Deck has been in LA recording with RZA after a 3 year break from working with eachother. Masta Killa is finishing up his second album with at least 5 beats produced by Bronze Nazareth.

On the movie side of things we can report that RZA will defenitly start shooting his movie 'The Man With The Iron Fist' in October. The movie will be a tribute to the old school Shaw Brothers movies that inspired the Wu-Tang Clan in their early days. One of the 'Five Deadly Venoms' actors is scheduled to make an appearance in the movie. More information is to follow...

[01. September. 2005] New Update:

New Album and DVD from Masta Killa: When "The East Is In The House"--- Oh My God, DANGER! No this is not Blazhay Blazhay, its Mast Killa from The Wu-Tang Clan. Nature Sound have not just finished releasing a list of high profiled Wu-tang related albums this year but has more to come, Timbo King is about to release the "black castle" album by Royal Fam, Mathematics and Black Market dropped very solid albums this year already, and word is that there would be a sophomore release from Masta Killa "The East Is In The House". This new album will feature the entire Wu-Tang Clan, and will most likely be the last one to do so (due to Ol' Dirty Bastard's demise). The new LP will include productions from The RZA, Bronze Nazareth, Mathematcis, DJ Premier and Pete Rock.

Before the release of the album, the label will release a Masta Killa DVD which will most likely be different from the bonus DVD on "No Said Date". This DVD should contain new material and exclusives, more updates on this to come. Masta Killa will also feature on the next Pete Rock project entitled "Next Generation" also on nature sounds,  a continuation of his "Soul Survivor" series and will include other acts such as MF Doom, D-Block, ED O.G, and Ghostface Killah.

In related news, Ghostface is close to completing his album for his Def Jam release and 6 of these songs have been produced by MF Doom. More updates to follow.

[31. August. 2005] New Update:

Ghostface Killah Presents Trife Da God [TMF] - 718: Stapleton to Somalia In-Stores 10-18-05
Growing up on Staten Island, New York, there are two things that you need to know: hip-hop and how to handle yourself on the streets. Trife Da God learned both at an early age. A product of Shaolin’s rough and rugged Stapleton Projects, Trife got into hip-hop at an early age. He saw how MCs were putting themselves and their hometowns on the map, and he knew he wanted to do the same.

“I used to come home from school and watch Video Music Box on the floor model in the living room,” says Trife. “The first video I really liked was the MC Shan’s ‘The Girl Left Me Lonely.’ I saw how he was getting down, looking all fly and shit. That’s when I knew I wanted to be a rapper. Ever since then I always knew I had it in me.”

Fortunately for Trife, running in the same streets as the Wu-Tang Clan had its privileges. The 25-year-old hooked up with Ghostface Killah while he was on the block and they formed an instant bond.

“My nigga Ghost is from the same hood and I remember one time I spit a rhyme for him in the park,” Trife says. “He saw some potential in me but I was little too young at the time. So, he was like, ‘Yo, when I get right and shit starts popping off, I am going to come back and scoop you up.’ And he stayed true to his word. That’s why I love him for that.”

Trife’s connection with Ghost goes deeper than being the next cat to get on. In addition to being a member of Ghostface’s Theodore Unit, the young MC says he’s learned from watching the rise of the MC also known as Iron-Man.

“I’ve seen how the game works from his experiences,” says Trife. “I’m a nigga that sits back and observes shit. A lot of these rappers think it’s just about rhyming, but they don’t see all the other bullshit like going to the studio, doing interviews, going on promo tours—you’ve got to have patience. That’s a lot of wear and tear on the body, and some of these cats don’t see that. Most MCs think this is fun and games, but this is a real job for niggas.”

All these experiences added up to Trife’s solo debut, 718: Stapleton to Somalia. “Stapleton to Somalia that’s like representing the struggle,” says Trife. “Cause there’s a lot of poverty out here in Stapleton, and Somalia—you already know what it is like out there. So, I just combined the two and called it Stapleton to Somalia.”

Trife flexes his lyrical skills on a number of joints including the red-hot “Playing With Fire” “That was the first one I really took hold to,” Trife says of the Jim Bond-produced beat. “As soon as I heard the shit I was like damn that’s me right there because I’m fire. I just put it together like I was fire and what I do to niggas on the mic. I’m hot so niggas better step back. My nigga Ghost hoped on it and that’s what it is.” Having put in as much time on the block as he has in the studio, Trife spins tales of the drug game with the grimy “Cocaine Trafficking” and “Them Drugs Ain’t Mine.”

“I had that beat for two or three years but I never touched it,” Trife says of the track for “Cocaine Trafficking.” “When, I heard that skit from Belly at the beginning again, I just decided to take it from the drug aspect. It just came out like some real on the block shit because that’s what niggas see everyday. The game don’t stop. The police think they could shut niggas down, but the way these little niggas is evolving. If the cops shut them down one way they, these little niggas evolve and find a new way to sell they shit.”

Trife even recounts an experience from his own street grind on the hood narrative “Them Drugs Ain’t Mine.” “When I first started hustling, the police would always fuck with me,” he says. “I don’t know what it was. Maybe, it was a sign that I shouldn’t have been out there slinging drugs. They would accuse me of shit I wouldn’t do. I got locked up and probation for shit I didn’t do while I was in high school. I was a young, stupid ass little nigga, but that’s a real story right there. It means a lot to me because people need to know how police get down. They be trying to give black dudes time to get them off the street. These little niggas don’t understand that. That’s why I wrote that song.”

718: Stapleton to Somalia features a host of other thorough tracks include the autobiographical “Put It On The Line” and the old-school-inspired “’85 Hip-Hop.” The album also features appearances from Ghostface on six tracks as well as Kool G. Rap. “This album is like a buffet—you can eat all day on it,” says Trife of the project.

As a newcomer, Trife Da God has big plans for hip-hop, himself and his hometown. “The current state of hip-hop ain’t the shit, but it is what it is,” says Trife. “We all come in the game to get paper. I don’t know how other cats are coming into the game, but I want to be a legend in this shit. “I’m bringing streets back,” he adds. “I’m just bring my flavor to the game. A lot of niggas be fronting on Staten Island. Everybody is trying to bring New York back right now. I want to bring New York back too, but at the same time we gotta bring Staten Island back too. So, it’s a double standard. I gotta bring New York and Staten Island back.”

Around 2000, Some tracks were stolen from Timbo King and got released illegally as "Yesterday, Today, Iz Tomorrow" in Europe. each member went about their business, with Timbo King releasing a number of street mixtapes, DVD and going on to feature in one of this years major release as the Black Market Militia on Nature Sound along side Killah Priest, Hell Razah, Tragedy Khadafi and William Cooper. Wu-Tang Latino: RZA and Divine owners of Wu Music Group have teamed up with Ray Acosta, former VP of Musica Latina and Marketing at UBO, to launch Wu Latino.

With Reggaetón and Latin Hip-Hop blazing the charts both over seas and in the states, the time has come for stateside Latinos to create their own record labels to hone and house the unique sound, Ray Acosta, former VP of Latin music and marketing at UBO along with RZA (producer/member of the legendary Wu-Tang Clan) and Divine of Wu Music Group to create and launch Wu Latino which has set out to accomplish just that. Acosta who initially built a relationship with Wu- Tang Clan during the groups early years, served as their creative consultant before he co-founded Latinflava, the most successful Latino website/TV show turned label thus far. Throughout the years, he maintained a solid relationship with RZA and his brother Divine. So when he first cooked up the idea of creating an Urban Latino label, he knew the pair would make the perfect partners.

The solid partnership between the three musical geniuses consists of Ray Acosta scouting, signing and managing the new talent, Rza handling most of the label’s production and Divine overseeing the business aspect of it all.

"Wu-Tang Latino is the perfect fusion between Hip-Hop and Reggaeton," said Ray Acosta, President of Wu Latino "I felt it was necessary because we [as Latinos] love Hip-Hop but in the love for Hip-Hop, we were losing our culture. So I feel that this joint venture with RZA is the perfect solution because it's Hip-Hop and Reggaeton, but it's not too overwhelming from either side to where you don't know what you're listening to."

The label has already signed four artists who all plan on dropping albums next year: Puerto Rican Reggaetón producer and Artist Rameses; 17-year-old Puerto Rican rapero Ruster; the infamous New York-based underground Hip-Hop duo NP Killah and Shown Black and underground sensation Impetus.

NP Killah, Shawn Black & Fuego

 Ray with Ed Rosa

“I am happy with the venture" artist/producer Rameses said. “I have been a fan of Hip-Hop since forever, so to team up with members of the Wu-Tang Clan and to be on a label that has the same vision for my music as I do, is incredible."

In addition to Rameses, artists Ruster, Impetus, and NP Killah & Shown Black will be some of the artists featured on the upcoming Wu-Tang Latino mixtape due out in October, with solo projects due out from NP Killah and Shown Black as early as 1st quarter next year.

"We just want to bring everyone together." Acosta continued. “We want to create our own type of music on the East Coast, because we have Reggaeton, but the West coast has Regional Hip-Hop for Mexicans. Eventually I would like it all to be classified as Latino Hip-Hop to embrace us all."

Fans can expect appearances from RZA, Method Man, Ghostface, Raekwon and other Wu-Tang members and affiliates to be featured on some of the Wu Latino projects. "They're all behind me," Acosta says.
Wu- Latino's main objective is not only to establish itself as a fixture within the urban music milieu but to make a presence in Hollywood and in mainstream radio. "RZA is a top dog in Hollywood.” Ray said of his partner,” He does scores, talent searches and soundtracks. his done both Kill Bill and the Blade trilogy, and his working on Kill Bill 3, there is no doubt that with his genius behind our artist’s talent, we will supercede the expectations that anyone has for a
Reggaeton artist.”

As the buzz continues to grow louder with Latino music dominating the charts, Wu-Latino is setting its sites on being a driving force in the growing movement. Starting in mid August they will bring their unique sound to cities nationwide, with the first single off of the Wu Music Compilation album due out this fall.

“Wu- Latino will epitomize the sound of newer generations of Latinos.” said Ray "A few years ago, Latino kids were hanging out in the street corner, and they didn't want to speak Spanish, now we have Reggaeton and Latin Hip-Hop grabbing them and they are proud to be Latino again. But what we do is different; we are taking the Reggaeton sound and mixing it with Urban Hip-Hop, that way we can really reach them."

U-God Teams Up With Don King To Brings Xcitment To Boxing: U-God and Don King team up again for match promos. Music from hip hop icon, U-God of the Wu Tang Clan, has been chosen by Don King to rev up sports fanatics everywhere. The legendary boxing promoter has again included multiple tracks from U-God's new release "Mr. Xcitement" (due in stores September 13) in spots advertising the forthcoming Global Glory: Battle For Pride And Country event

The fight is scheduled to take place on August 13, 2005 at Chicago's United Center. Both the event's 30 minute TV Preview and radio advertising are currently airing multiple times daily featuring U-God's tunes.

This is not the first time U-God's infectious brand of thrilling hip hop has been used by King. In May, the marketing guru used U-Gods's "Mr Xcitement" to promote the Trinidad - Wright match in Las Vegas. The album was used exclusively in the 30 minute TV Preview that air multiple times daily on the Direct TV/HBO outlets for three weeks leading up to the fight as well as airing inside the MGM Grand Casino on their in-house cable system. The match itself was near the top of all boxing pay-per-view events, proving that Xcitement was definitely generated. Don King was so pleased with the promotional power of the song that he thanked U-God for the music in the national press conference.

With both men possessing an invaluable ability to command attention wherever they go and in whatever they do, the marriage of Don King Productions and U-God has proven to be perfect one. Fans of both should be sure to check out the "Don King Speaks To U-God" skit on Mr. Xcitement to get an additional dose of the stars. As the man himself would say, "Only In America!"

WU-TANG ASSASSINS: DJ Muggs [Soul Assassins] & GZA [Wu-Tang Clan] To Release “DJ Muggs Vs. GZA: Grandmasters":

Soul Assassin and Cypress Hill founding member, producer and architect DJ Muggs is releasing his latest effort, DJ Muggs vs. GZA: Grandmasters, this October on Angeles Records, an imprint on Fontana Distribution. The stunning collection contains 11-tracks of Muggs’ neck-snapping beats with the Wu Tang’s GZA on the mic.

“We’ve talked about collaborating since we worked together on the first Soul Assassins records back in 1997,” remarks GZA. “And we’re both Grandmasters at what we do,” he says, referring to the album’s title and term for a chess Virtuoso (Incidentally, chess is a game GZA thinks should be part of the school curriculum in America).

Most know GZA as perhaps the most lyrically gifted of the Wu Tang Clan--he’s released numerous acclaimed projects in his own right. His solo album, Liquid Swords, has been hailed as a hip-hop classic, and his subsequent work has been lauded as among the most seminal of Wu-Tang’s solo projects.

Never one to keep his talents in check, GZA is currently penning a book about the mind state of the hip-hop artist.

Aside from his lauded work with Cypress Hill and the Soul Assassins Crew, Muggs has launched Mash-Up Radio a syndicated radio show on KROCK 2 in NY, 10 U.S. cities and Sirius Shady 45. Plus, Muggs will headline the Lalapolooza World Stage with the Mash-Up Circus, which is a massive 3D DJ circus (a' la Cirque de Soliel).

Just as DJ SCREW was looked at as the foundation for Chopped & Screwed, Muggs is fast becoming the go to guy for Mash-Up versions of records. Muggs has an original Mash-Up album nearly completed with tracks by Transplants, Mobb Deep, Alchemist, and GZA and several popular Mash Up mix tapes already out. Finally, he plans to release a Mash-Up re-release of the upcoming Grandmasters album with GZA.

With this latest collaboration, hip-hop heads are about to get an album which combines two of the most gifted music makers in the business. DJ Muggs vs. GZA: Grandmasters drops October 25th, 2005

U-God [Wu-Tang Clan] Brings Forth New Music, With New Outlook, & New Label:  U-God [best known as an original member of the Wu Tang Clan] is poised to take the music industry by storm with the release of his second solo album, the aptly titled Mr. Xcitement.
The release marks his first project with Free Agency Recordings, nationally distributed by Navarre. Building off the success of his debut solo album, "Golden Arms Redemption", [which featured the top 10 Billboard Hot Rap single "Bizarre" and the action sports/video game classic "Rumble"] and his numerous artist features, Mr. Xcitement continues the U-God musical odyssey. Reaching deep into his personal influences, the album reflects a maturity and understanding unprecedented in today's rap world - a hip-hop opera of sorts about relationships and street tales.

In the words of U-God, "Mr. Xcitement ain't just about partying, there is more to the album, I took my time - I didn't rush the shit." His lyrical prowess is demonstrated on the lead single "You Don't Want To Dance," which warns posers to stay clear and features U-God's trademark "slanguistics." Unlike others in the game who seek to play it safe, U-God
ventures back into the "Rumble" arena with the head bangin' anthem "Kick Ass" and the rock-flavored "I'm Talkin' To You" that introduces his unrivaled sound to audiences not already familiar with his body of work. On "Jenny," U-God weaves an intricate story line of a relationship
riddled with deception and greed. After taking listeners through matters of the wounded heart, he offers an uplifting tune about the importance of not taking one's life for granted on the "Carry On."

The diversity of sounds and themes is a testament to U-God's continued viability as an artist in an industry where flash in the pans are all too common. "[People] don't realize the U in U-God stands for universal," the rapper explains. "It means no boundaries, infinity, it goes on forever." And indeed, with an album as well crafted as Mr. Xcitement, the industry will be hearing from U-God for many years to come.

GZA Vs Muggs Release On Fontana: DJ Muggs and Self Scientific has inked an imprint deal with Fontana. June 20, 2005 (Los Angeles, CA) Multi-platinum rap producer DJ Muggs has joined forces with critically acclaimed hip-hop duo Self-Scientific and formed a new label, Angeles Records. Angeles is the latest addition to Fontana Distribution, the independent distribution division of Universal Music Group (UMG), the world’s leading music company. Initial releases will include DJ Muggs vs. GZA, a unique collaboration between Muggs and Wu Tang Clan’s GZA. The second release, Change, is the much-anticipated follow-up LP by one of LA’s most talented, but underexposed groups, Self-Scientific. Both albums are due out in October.

“The industry has changed profoundly over the past decade,” explains Chace, the MC of Self-Scientific, about why they decided to ink a label deal of their own. “The majors aren’t interested in --or prepared to-- deal with developing acts anymore.”

“That’s where we come in,” explains Muggs, and adds that while most indie hip-hop labels today are putting out very left of center music, Angeles is about “true, pure, quality hip-hop.”

“Muggs and Self-Scientific are true entrepreneurs in every sense of the word,” notes Steve Pritchitt, General Manager of Fontana, “we are thrilled that they have chosen to be part of the Fontana family.”

Most known for his seminal work as the DJ and producer behind the legendary rap group Cypress Hill, Muggs has worked alongside rap heavyweights from Dr Dre, Wyclef, Mob Deep, GZA, and RZA , to name a few. Indeed with such an extensive credo, Muggs is a heavyweight himself. Also part of the group the Soul Assassins, Muggs today has his own radio show on Sirius Satellite on Shade 45 called “Mash-Up Radio” and tours with multi-platinum groups like Blink 182. Most recently, Muggs scored one scene in the new Ice Cube movie "XXX.”

Self-Scientific, composed of Chace Infinite and producer DJ Khalil, burst on the scene with their much lauded LP, The Self Science. Since then, Khalil, long heralded as one of LA best up and coming producers, has kept busy working with Dr. Dre and Aftermath Records on a production deal. MC Chace can be heard on Sway and Tech’s latest album Back to Basics and Talib Kweli’s Beautiful Mixtape vol. 1. The duo released a compilation earlier this year called Gods and Gangstas.

[06. July. 2005] New Update:

Story Behind The Mathematics Covers: Like most Wu-tang or rare albums, Every initial release, commonly known as advanced copies of an album usually differ or can be later changed due to known or unknown reasons, sometimes it is due to legal or label problems, sometimes it is a conscious decision by the artist, and sometimes it could be just limited edition release, classic examples are Bobby Digital Presents Northstar - Northstar, The Struggle - Cappadonna, Bobby Digital In Digital Bullet - The RZA and the list goes on.

So what is the story behind the Mathematics cover? first they was the initial advanced cover with a brown cover art which was later changed to a blue final cover as released. This prompted rumours and speculations as to album having two different covers, perhaps the first one might have songs or differences to the later versions?

The Label has confirmed that there is only one release and that is the final release, the original cover (Brown) will not be released. The original cover (brown) was actually a photo effect called cepia tone (used in the photo development process in the 1920's). The effect was added to try and make the photo look older or classic, but changed to the purple to add some more flavor to the image, and that is the story behind the covers. Now go out there and cop the album, as the content of the album is what makes the album and from reviews posted to date, the least giving to it has been 4/5. its pure maths!!

I’m all about The Truth and that’s how I live my life. The struggles I’ve been through and the struggles I’ve seen, the realities of what the game is doing to my people and the belief that there is something better out there for us, it’s all in this album. You know I’ve been on a lot of albums and traveled the world so I called my album ‘The Return of the Prodigal Sunn’ because I’ve been out there in the streets and I’ve come back to share my story through my own songs.”

During Mark Copeland’s tenure as the head of Priority Special Markets, he developed the landmark series Wu-Chronicles Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 (which featured the red hot single “Re-Up” by Prodigal and 12 O’Clock’s group 2 On The Road). TREATMENT

TRUE GRIND .

Is a description one uses to define the sacrifices made in order to achieve fame and fortune this DVD is the embodiment of such a mind state

No one completely understands the plight of a poor neighborhood like the people who exist in that poor neighborhood and with that being said no one can paint a colorful picture of how it is to live in that state of existence like and artist can.

A artist by any genre be it graffiti artist, rap artist or poet these people are commonly known as the ghetto C.N.N. of the hood.

THE MESSAGE

What's going on brother?

the artist are the ones who pass on the ghetto news from roof top to roof top and from hood to hood, these people relay the beauty and harsh realities that is the subject and motivation behind so many graphic songs of reality. and some artist gain hood fame through the open mics, block parties and freestyle battles on the corner just like hieroglyphic graffiti art on the trains and walls the rap artist is also a landmark of the community

WALKING DOGS

lately there are recording studios popping up on every block and in every hood more than gun shops and liquor stores, they're filled with potential word smiths displaying they take on reality and how they see it through the art of rhyme and story telling.

with hopes of getting a record executive to give them a shot at stardom thousands of demos flood the many offices of top record labels.

STREET CREDIBILITY

All the artist have this thing called street credibility or strive to keep a reputation of being known in the hood for keeping it real .like most artist that's in the grind as they call it wants fame and stardom but finds it hard to maintain their street credit with the fame money and stardom that comes along with the biz and that's a common fear among the "UNDERGROUND" artist.

"NO SELL OUT!!!"

SUCCESS

The level of success is determined by what an artist is willing to give up in order to reach that level of fame some are willing to do whatever it takes even if it compromise their REALNESS some may do it to change their economic situation rather than sell drugs on the street some may do it cause they feel they have no other options in life the bottom line is be it as it may all the artist are acquainted with the TRUE GRIND mentality www.truegrind.com
