The Luxuries &
Ailments of a Self Awakened Conscious (Words from Dragonfly) |
| Through out my everyday life of
being the best me that I can possibly be, one slogan stands
firm in the rich and refined soil that makes up the
foundation of my mind. Where seeds of knowledge are planted,
thoughts and ideas blossom and the negative and positive
wills fight for the right to rule and reign supreme. One
only learns what one Teaches Self. So please embark on this
prosperous journey as I revisit the past and arrive at the
present of what is known currently as Me, Myself and I.

Fes Taylor -
Welcome To Flight 10304 [T-2 Fly Interview] |
 |
Fes Taylor has achieved what
many artists only dream of: respect from all the generations of
Hip-Hop. Earlier in his career, he was known as Profess, and was
a member of King Just's Shaolin Soldiers, the first group to
ever perform at Hot 97's Summer Jam. He enjoyed a burgeoning
solo career, but never quite got off the ground. Teaming up
later with Wu-Tang Clan's own lyrical master, Rebel INS, widely
known as Inspectah Deck who asked him to join his elite crew,
The Housegang Animalz resulting to a mixtape release. The group
later was splintered and redistributed amongst several other
Wu-Affiliated groups, but Fes stayed loyal to Deck, becoming the
lyrical master's own personal protégé, as well as a great
stylist and lyricist in his own right.
A member of the two-man crew,
The Heart Foundation, Fes's hard work and characteristic help to
align him within 50 Cent's G-unit camp, making him possibly the
only man able to walk comfortably in both circles. |
|
Always garnering his own
respect and fans in the process, Fes has tirelessly released
underground street albums, DVDs and mixtapes. The only thing
eluding him now would be an official retail solo album,
Flight
10304 (T2Fly). Wu-Tang legend Inspectah Deck co-signs Fes
Taylor for this, his first ever solo excursion into Hip-Hop
history.
A native of New York City,
Fes Taylor was born in Harlem and raised in Staten Island. This
very talented MC realized early in his childhood that he had a
passion for one thing: music. Before long his passion for music
would prompt him to start perfecting his craft, soon this local
prodigy could be found ripping apart talent shows and battling
MC’s everywhere he could to gain his respect as a rapper.
Impressed with his deep lyrical content and hardcore edge,
Blackfist Records made him one of the original Shaolin Soldiers.
Soon after, the MC then known as Profes made his debut on King
Just’s 1994 album entitled
Mystics of the
God. The album sold over 300,000 copies and was an
astonishing success.
This afforded Profes the
opportunity to rise to another level. He began touring for shows
such as Freaknic in Atlanta, Jack the Rapper in Florida, and the
very first Hot 97’s Summer Jam held in New Jersey. Although he
had much success with Blackfist Records, it was short lived. The
label would eventually fall apart, leaving Profes to sign with
Pinnacle Records, an independent label. It was while with
Pinnacle Entertainment, that Profes released his first solo
single Party On/Decision. The single sold over 10,000 copies in
the U.K. and Africa. However, it wasn’t long before the young MC
found himself once again, on his own.
With unstoppable will and determination that was not to be
reckoned with, Fes Taylor founded Two 4 War Entertainment in
early 2000. This allowed him to release an independent solo
album on the streets, which in the long run sold over 20,000
copies. His on going passion would also lead him to do
background vocals for an independent film titled Kings of the
Streets, a hip hop documentary. In the following years, “Taylor
2 Fly” kept flooding the streets and the internet with a series
of underground projects ranging from mixtapes and compilations
to DVD’s and albums.
Taylor also formed a two-man group with long time friend Mr.
Prezident called Heart Foundation. The duo’s swagger and energy
impressed G-Unit affiliate Mazaradi Fox so much that he made the
Heart Foundation members of the G-Unit/Dumout family.
Having earned the respect of well-known established artists and
fans worldwide, the timing was now perfect for Fes to release
his first retail solo album. So, he signed a deal with new indie
label Chambermusik Records/Koch for the release of
Flight
10304 (T-2 Fly). This official debut is co-signed by Wu-Tang
legend Inspectah Deck and features the Rebel INS himself,
Shyheim, Mr. Prezident, Lot-A-Nerv, T-Bird and many more.
Production is handled by Falling Down, Flip, Blastah Beatz,
G-Clef da Mad Komposa, Chad Beats, and others. Fes Taylor is
about to take off, so you better strap yourself in. Read all
about his resolved beef with The RZA, and new quarrel with Joe
Budden, his humble beginnings and album here. Enjoy the flight!

Thea Van Seijen -
Just Call Me Thea [The Interview] |
|
The answer is yes! Yes you
have probably heard her, heard of her and from her somehow,
somewhere, especially if you have been following any of the
projects and releases The RZA (Wu-Tang Clan) has been putting
out since 2005. Thea Van Seijen, who hails from The Netherlands
and resides partially in Europe and USA is the new
soul/Jazz/Hip-hop sensation discovered by The RZA. RZA's gift
for discovering talents is always on point and remains so to
date, a chance meeting outside a studio in Lankershim Boulevard,
California with RZA's cousin Daddy O began the musical
expedition for Thea, who is blessed with a voice most normally
compare to the likes of the renowned Billie Holliday. |
 |
Thea is easily conspicuous within the Wu family tree, apart from
her charming looks and great inspirational voice; she pretty
much stands out in every other way. Most of Rza’s protégés,
discoveries and Wu affiliated artists have primarily been men,
which is a typical trend common in hip-hop and most of these
artists, soloist or groups have predominately been African
Americans.
Wu has always been innovative and trend setting so it came at no
surprise when RZA signed the likes of Remedy (Jewish MC from
Staten Island) years before Dr. Dre signed Eminem, as well as
Dom Pachino from Killarmy and later Wu Latino (Hispanic
background) and even stretching outside USA to sign Cilvaringz,
the first non American artist from The Netherlands in Europe. In
a male dominated hip-hop scene few women have also aligned
themselves within the Wu from the likes of the talented Tekitha,
Blue Raspberry and Tash Mahogany to the all female group Deadly
Venoms.
Thea Van Seijen (her real name), is the first female affiliated
with the legendary Wu legacy that is white, not a male and not
from America. Why should that matter? Hearing her golden voice
tear through songs is enough to captivate any listener
regardless of race, sex and geographical location. Her vocal
style comes across as being strongly inspired by Jazz but fused
with hip-hop instrumentalists with a deep personal and intimate
approach to singing. It’s the skills and gift that Thea had that
made RZA enlist her as his new found protégé, Thea was
introduced to the world on the hit song “Baby Boy” in 2005 off
the Unleash soundtrack and have gone on to feature on numerous
projects from the Bobby Digital Digisnax to more soundtracks
such as Derailed, and Afro Samurai 1 and 2. With these high
profile collaborations, still not much is know about her,
especially as it seems she is keen on keeping a very low profile
and let the music speak for itself, or perhaps she is waiting
for the right moment to come all out? Either way one thing is
evident, Thea is a star in the making and only time will tell…
Well that’s of course if the Wu fans let it, as Thea has been
the subject of discussions on different forums on the net and
our emails is still flooded with questions regarding her and her
music, Wu-Tang International has managed to catch up with her
for an exclusive interview to give the fans a little bit of her
backgrounds and what is to come. Enjoy!

Ol' Dirty Bastard
Tribute Album |
| Whether
you know him by Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Big Baby Jesus, Dirt
McGirt, Osirus, or his birth name, Russell Jones, there was
no other entertainer/personality like ODB. On November 13,
2004 (just two days shy of his 36th birthday), hip-hop lost
one of its most charismatic and outspoken entertainers when
ODB’s passed away, ironically while recording in the 36th
Chamber Recording Studio. When ODB passed his cousin, Raison
Allah, of Wu Tang affiliated rap group, Brooklyn Zu,
promised to keep Ol’ Dirty’s legacy alive. Raison Allah
Iceman, and 12 O’Clock, have executive-produced a 10 track
music tribute disc, All In Together Now Raw, A Tribute to Ol’
Dirty Bastard,” to be released May 2009 which features The
Rza, 4th Disciple, Brooklyn Zu, Raison Allah, Masta Killah,
Killah Army, Free Murder and more. |
 |
“Years ago I
promised to keep Dirty’s legacy alive, so we formed Zu Films
and starting filming a documentary which tells his life
story. But with all the footage and interviews, I still felt
like something was missing; Dirty was all about the music.
When word got out that we were working on a documentary, Wu
fam started sending me so many tracks. We had so many dope
tracks that we didn’t want to wait until the soundtrack to
the DVD to put them out. We decided to put out a tribute
album every other month until the documentary, Dirty. One
Word Can Change The World, is released in November. Each
tribute disc will include a short trailer to promote the
upcoming DVD Documentary.”
The documentary directed by Raison Allah for Zu Films, took
three years to produce/edit and features many fascinating
untold stories and includes interviews from ODB’s immediate
family, friends, and musical collaborators who reveal the
true story of a man who defied the world for his own freedom
of expression. It’s the story about a highly intelligent and
complex entertainer, whose mission was to be free from all
rules; to speak his mind whether considered appropriate or
not.
His bizarre on-stage/off-stage antics were widely reported
in the mainstream media. Raison Allah and his Zu Films
camera crew take viewers to places no outsider has access
to. He revisits the Brooklyn’s hood where ODB used to hang
out and where he lived, including the home where ODB,
profiled for an MTV biography took two of his thirteen
children by limousine to a New York State Family Services
office to pick up his welfare check while his latest album
was still in the top ten of the US charts. The entire
incident was filmed by an MTV camera crew and was broadcast
nationwide. Thereafter MTV named OBD, the most newsworthy
person of 2003.
In one of his most famous public moments, ODB stormed the
Grammy stage and made an impromptu speech on live TV. He
grabbed the mic from Shawn Colvin who was in the midst of
giving her acceptance speech for song of the year and
surprised the world on live TV. ODB was upset he’d purchased
expensive clothes in anticipation of Wu Tang winning the
“Best Rap Album,” only for Puff Daddy win. He announced to a
stunned audience, "I don't know how you all see it, but when
it comes to the children, Wu-Tang is for the children!"
Indeed ODB definitely loved the kids. He and a friend
witnessed a car accident from the window of his Brooklyn
recording studio, ran to the accident scene, and organized a
dozen onlookers who rescued the 4 year old from a car wreck
by lifting the Ford Mustang off of her. She was taken to the
hospital and treated for second and third degree burns.
Under a false name, Jones visited the girl in the hospital
frequently until members of the media began to camp out at
the hospital anticipating his visits. In the documentary,
Raison Allah interviewed the little girl now 13 who ODB
rescued from a car wreck. Although she was 4 at the time,
she remembers the accident and her hero.
“For our family, Dirt is very much alive,” expresses Raison.
“He was more than an entertainer, he was my blood and we
miss him! I know the tribute album and documentary would
have touched his heart.”
All In Together Now Raw, A Tribute to Ol’ Dirty Bastard is
available May 2009
Zu Films’ Dirty. One Word Can Change The World documentary
will be available nationwide starting November 2009.

Apocalipps:
Ruthless Bastard Number 1 Interview |
|
It seems Wu-Tang
fans can never get enough of The RZA presents Wu-Tang Killa
Bees: The Swarm compilation and the artists that contributed to
make this album a timeless classic. The project helped to
initiate some of the finest breed of hip-hop artists that the
game have ever seen, being under the Wu canopy at that time
meant a couple of things, an instant access to a loyal fan-base
and respect from the industry (peers and fans alike) as being
under Wu was a strong indication of ones high lyrical skills and
gift on the mic. There was no downside then to being an
affiliate, however just recently, formal associates have
expressed the need to be viewed independent of the Wu motif as
they felt pigeon-holed and have not had any form of dealings
with the Wu or its members for a period of time, Some still
claim and maintain this alliance while others had fallen out
over business or personal reasons and the rest have simply moved
onto other things. |
 |
The Swarm
compilation had guest of artists from Wu-Tang Clan members
to the likes of Black Knights, Northstar, Killarmy, La The Darkman, Wu-Syndicates, Streetlife,
Remedy, Royal Fam, Da Beggaz Clan, Sunz Of Man, Darkim Be Allah,
Shyheim, Tekitha, Ruthless Bastards and so on and so forth.
Unlike today where everyone wants to claim the “W” with
little or nothing to do with the Wu or even anything new to
offer, every artist on the Swarm brought something unique to
the table and helped to elevate the Wu sound and movement
that has enabled it to remain the legacy that it is today.
Ruthless Bastards was one of that collective, consisting
Apocalipps, Beno, Iron Mic, Sha Gotti, and Truck, the group also
hailing from Staten Island had its own brand of hip-hop and was
already established before joining forces with the Wu. With a
production team and management behind them the group completed
albums during 1997-2000 period that have never seen the light of
the day, Bastards decided to go their own route and have
constantly been releasing mix-tapes as a group and solo artists
independently to date. The group has had it’s a rough ride but
have managed to stick together and even increased in number due
to some of its members being incarcerated, Apocalipps has
remained the most recognisable member of the group, with a
planned official overdue debut in works and a solo promising
solo project from Lipps, Wu-International caught up with
Ruthless front man to find out why its taken the group so long
to release an album, their Wu days and relationship with the
Clan members, music and life. Unfortunately similar to some of
his partners in the group, Apocalipps is currently locked up at
the time of publishing this interview which was conducted almost
a year ago and Wu-Int felt the time was right to make public
this interview as an appreciation to Lipps, his music and as a
note for the fans to continue to support Lipps and the Ruthless
Bastards. Groups like this don’t exist any more in hip-hop!

ShaCronz: Who's
Next? Interview |
|
 |
C.C.F
Division is not a name that goes unnoticed especially within
the Wu insignia, consisting of Free Murda, ShaCronz and
Terra Tory the group were slowly introduced but heavily used
on Popa Wu’s “Visions
Of The 10th Chamber” in 2000 and then went on to feature
on numerous Wu-Tang projects along side heavy weights such
as Ghostface Killah, The RZA, LA The Darkman and so on.
The affiliation with Wu goes beyond music as its thicker
than water with the bloodline, ShaCronz and Free are both
brothers and sons to the legendary mentor to and father
figure to the clan members, Popa Wu, as well as being
cousins to the foundation of the clan, GZA/Genius, The RZA
and Ol’ Dirty Bastard.
The group has paid its due with their guest spots and have
gained a string of fans worldwide and as part of the next
generation Wu, each member of CCF Division are beginning to
step forward outside the shadows of the Wu to showcase their
individuality to the world. Free Murda released a debut
album in 2007, and in 2009, ShaCronz is gearing up for his
own release which hosts production from The Wu Elements such
as RZA, True Master, Mathematics and features collaboration
from both the clan members and Killa Beez alike. ShaCronz
has been has been honing his vigorous, party-inducing flow
in the housing projects of Fort Greene, Brooklyn. While
every rapper claims to be "changing the game," ShaCronz is
literally making good music, moves and adding on to the next
chapter as covered on this exclusive interview conducted by
Wu-Tang International.
