The Rodentz
- Forever [Interview]
|
|
 |
Early this year,
Cno Evil and Li-Mouse collectively known as The Rodentz were
rumoured to be breaking up after releasing about 2 albums and
one solo project from Cno. Group stand out mostly within the
Wu-Tang fans due to their love of the whole movement and online
contribution. The fringe benefit to this has allowed Cno to work
closely with the likes of Wu Killa Beez and most notably G-Clef
who is the founder of the popular Chambermusik and a renowned
producer, musician and CEO.
|
|
Without claiming
any affiliation like peers in similar boats would do, The group
especially its main beat maker, Cno has produced for the likes
of Brooklyn Zu, Dungeon Masta, just to name a few but most
excitingly, Cno has indirectly had part if his work used by RZA
for the Wu-Tang album "8 Diagrams", it doesn't get any better
than that does it? The group's loyal and creative interests
earned them backstage passes to Rock the Bells along side
hip-hip greats and legends and allowed them to witness the tour
as well as everything that went down behind the scenes.
With a completed
mixtape "Rodentz Forever" dedicated to the classic Wu-Tang album
"Wu Forever" the mixape sees Cno Evil and Li-Mouse exchanging
verbs over classic Wu-Tang beats and concepts as well as close
to completing their forth coming album "The Expiration Date" and
"The Most Daring" double album something this or next year,
Wu-International catches up with The Rodentz to find out what
has been going on with them, the music and life in general. So
put your pesticides, traps, electronic repellers, poisons and
what have you away and allow yourself the openness to witness
the emergence of the kings on top of the of the Rodentia hip-hop
race, a movement is about to be born people, Enjoy.

Frukwan
[Sun-Star] - The Grand Master Teacher's Guide To Greatness [Interview]
|
|
 |
Frukwan can only
be addressed as the True and Living Teacher ( GREATNESS ) when
Hip Hop needs a savior- “Frukwan is one of the most powerful and
passionate MCs in the game I've heard come out of Brooklyn,” said
Timmy Grins of the acclaimed Brooklyn hip-hop collective ARCANE.
“He has a message and he is not afraid of being who he is to the
world.”
Frukwan is one of few rap artists that doesn't need a household
name, incessant spins on radio airwaves, or a top 10 video on
TRL or 106&Park to earn his respect. Immensely esteemed by many
of his contemporaries, Frukwan's presence should rightfully
humble the demeanour of anyone with an adept knowledge of
hip-hop history. Credited as founding member of the very first
Hip-hop band, Stetsasonic, and the soul of underground monsters,
the Gravediggaz along side The RZA (Wu-Tang Clan), Poetic, and
Prince Paul, the Brooklyn bred MC has already made notable
contributions to the hip-hop movement and is not stopping. After
17 years in |
|
the music
industry, Frukwan, now known as Frukwan
Sun-star and also known as The Multiple Supreme (for his various
rhyme patterns), offers a diverse concoction of styles,
narratives, and pulsations.
He describes his
solo venture as a natural transition. While remaining
introspective Frukwan continues in the Gravedigga tradition
“Everybody asks the questions, what's life and what's my life? I
kind of made Life as the answers to the questions. Pretty much
what I wanted to do was save the babies,” said Frukwan. Unlike
most rap artists of today he trusts his own ingenuity, acting as
sole producer and performer on his album.
Possibly one
reason why Frukwan has a lot to say is because he's encountered
his share of trails and tribulations. He looks back on the
unfortunate passing of his partner in rhyme, fellow Gravediggaz
member, Poetic, to cancer in April of 2002 as one of his biggest
learning experiences! Not letting anything hold him back,
Frukwan has returned in 2009 with a brand new album rightfully
titled "Greatness"
that features 10 banging tracks produced by Chicago's 5th
Element, E-Mack and so on and has gotten back in touch with The
RZA and his extensive Wu-Tang family tree as far as music,
collaborations, tours, and just teaching. Wu-International
followed up from the interview conducted about 5 years ago to
find out what this master of craft has been up to and fans would
be shocked, excited, etertained and educated, at what they hear
in reference to his new album, the new Gravediggaz line up and
projects with The RZA, Killarmy, Sunz Of Man and Black Knight
members, his views on hip-hop, Obama, life and everything else
dug to light by this legendary gravedigga MC, Read, enjoy and
be edutained!

The RZA To
Release his second book The Tao Of Wu |
|

|
Wu-Tang’s RZA is set
to deliver his second book after 2005's Wu-Tang Manual,
which was an introduction to the philosophy and history of
Hip-Hop's original Dynasty, the Wu-Tang Clan.
The new book entitled The Tao of Wu, details RZA's own
personal journey to enlightenment. By utilizing Hip-Hop
lyrics, autobiographical anecdotes, and parables, the RZA
explains how he was simultaneously inspired by Hinduism,
Buddhism, Christianity, Bruce Lee, and Islam.
The Abbott frames his philosophy under seven “Pillars of
Wisdom,” which represent seven “key turning points in his
life” that he hopes to impart on his readers.
The number 7 is symbolic in itself, representing
consciousness in numerology, and considered a divine number
in several faiths such as Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
According to the text’s publisher Riverhead Books, The Tao
of Wu is a deeper reflection on the brief philosophical
glimpses read in 2004’s The Wu-Tang Manual.'The Tao of Wu'
is set for release on October 20th.

Method Man,
Raekwon & Ghostface Killah Speculate on a joint album.
|
|

  |
Method Man wants to
collaborate with some of his Wu-Tang cohorts on a new album.
The rapper says the possibility of recording an entire album
with buddies Ghostface Killah and Raekwon is "in discussion
right now."
"I don't want to say it's written in stone, but it's in
discussion." Method Man told MTV News. "I want some feedback
from the fans to see how they would take that."
And discussing his artistic vision for the record, Meth
explains: "RZA produced tracks, some other outside
producers, of course, and we gonna have Wu-Tang members on
the album, but it'll be a Rae, Ghost and Meth album."
As for his own solo plans, he continued: "Honestly, I don't
want to make an album by myself, but it's something that's
required, and the fans want that, so I'm gonna do that."
Method Man's last solo album was 2006's '4:21... The Day
After', although he did drop a joint LP with Redman titled 'Blackout!
2' earlier this year.

Dr. Ama [Dark
Skinned Assassin] - The Doctor Vs. The Assassin [Interview]
|
|
Back
in 1996 with his self released EP - Lock Shit Down/ Gotta Get
the Cream , the artist known as Dark Skinned Assassin garnered a
huge buzz. With a Wu-Tang affiliation, and support from
Funkmaster Flex, Dame Dash, and many other industry heavies, he
was well on his way to enjoying a brilliant career when all his
dreams came crashing down in the form of an "upstate vacation".
After serving his 3 year term, his return to freedom was
bittersweet when he found the music game had passed him by. He
then resorted to non-musical career choices, but never lost his
ear for Hip-Hop. |
 |
|
A mysterious figure, rumours
even emerged that he was locked up in Russia. However, during
this time his artistry and name was slowly rediscovered by a new
generation of fans, especially within the Wu Fans who never let
his name rest, and his return to Hip-Hop was sparked by a new
hunger to express himself. He appeared on K-Slay tapes and
created within himself, an alter ego, the birth of Dr. Ama.
Dr. Ama (Deadly
Rhyme Alters Man's Attitude) was
created to represent the amount of personal Drama he had
been through, as well as a tribute to Amadou Diallo, the young
student accidentally gunned down by NYC police in 1999. "Split
Personadli-D" marks his official return to the Hip-Hop game,
as he presents both his personas vying for exposure over a
veritable cascade of instrumental backdrops by genius producer
Falling Down (Killarmy/Lil' Flip). With strong hooks, and rugged
street soundtracks, this album promises to be a classic in the
history of Rap music. With guest spots filled by the likes of
Block McCloud (Brooklyn Academy), BlakkStarr, Fresh Jones & J
Maul etc and additional producers includes 100 Grand (Salt n
Pepa), and Kwiz (T.I.).
In this interview
Wu-International attempts to identify the genius or madness
behind both characters Dr. Ama and Dark Skinned Assassin
covering his background, albums, aspirations and much
more. Enjoy!!
