Inspectah Deck + 7L & Esoteric = Czarface
7L & Esoteric is a Boston-based
hip hop duo. In 2010, they put out an album called
1212, which featured Wu-Tang Clan member Inspectah
Deck on a track called "12th Chamber." Eso, who's
been working with DJ 7L for about two decades now,
hadn't rapped with Deck on a track since 1999's
Speaking Real Words EP.
Both collaborations
were tight, and the two MCs have finally announced
the formation of a new group. The trio of artists is
now Czarface, which has been described by Esoteric
as "a vigilante, anti-hero character." The project,
which currently has no set release date and will be
released on Boston rap label Brick Records, will
feature some pretty impressive hardcore rap icons,
notably DJ Premier and Large Professor. Newer cats,
however, like Mr. Muthafuckin' eXquire, Action
Bronson and Roc Marciano will also join the party.
Deck had this to say about it all in a press
release.
We are Czarface because they know
our faces and they know us for being dope rhyme
suppliers, like Tony Montana we are known for our
balls and our word.

Russ
Prez (Protect Ya Neck/Wu-Tang Management/Rocks The
World) - Poison Beats Interview
During
Wu-Tang’s earlier days, The RZA had the Clan, Killa Beez and
Wu-Elements, this production unit was a very vital part of the
world domination Wu-Tang had in mind. Numerous chambers were
created within the movement, John “Mook “ Gibbons
was in charge of Protect Ya Neck and
Wu-Tang Management and just like RZA’s Chamber the structure was
pretty much the same: there were the Killa Beez such as MMO,
KGB, Deadly Venoms,… as well as their own “elements” production
team collectively known back then as Rocks The World which were
mainly Storm, Russ Prez and Smokin Joeh.
This crew soon
proved to be a notable movement within Wu’s already great
movement. Over the years Wu-International has been able to go
back in time to catch up and find out more about Protect Ya
Neck/ Wu-Tang Management (PYN/WTM), having interviewed the older
heads such as
M.M.O.,
Ill Knob
from KGB, Deadly Venom’s
J-Boo and
LinQue and
Iron
Sheik to the new acts such as
Krumb Snatcha as well as WTM’s
head and CEO
John Mooks. The only thing that was missing to complete this
series of interviews was the backbone of this chamber, the
production unit, while these gifted producers might have been
behind the scenes most of the time, they were an equally if not
more important part of this whole collective.
So
let’s introduce them again before diving into the
interview: the “Rocks The World” producers were part
of PYN/Wu-Tang management and were not just the
production crew behind the hits that toured through
the underground scenes in hip-hop’s golden era but
also delivered the initiative, creativity and
muscles behind some of your favorite artists from
PYN. So while most Wu fans might think they know all
that went on, plus why and how from the few
interviews posted online it will never really be
complete until you’ve read this… For instance there
is the most talked about all-star Deadly Venoms are
known to be just 4 members, but was this the
intended amount? Perhaps there were about 9 - 10 of
them to reflect the same amount of the actual
Wu-tang Clan, so how did it get narrowed down to
just the 4 we mainly know of? Who were the other
members? What about MMO and KGB? This team was also
responsible for music for others such as 9th Prince
(Killarmy), Shyheim, Wu-Syndicate as well as some of
the Generals, how did each puzzle fit?
Enter
Russel Pressley, commonly referred to as Russ Prez,
one third of the production team alongside Storm and
Smoken Joeh… While the fans might be aware that most
of the PYN projects that came out then were the
brain child of these producers, not many know what
each producer was doing prior to joining PYN/WTM,
and what they have been doing after leaving to date.
Having a very interesting background and experience,
Russ Prez was kind enough to take us back in time to
educate us about his rich history, and that of
PYN/WTM, what he is currently working on, his goals
and aspirations and much much more, another personal
dope interview Wu-International can not wait to
share, Enjoy!

Support A Solo Project From
Kinetic 9 (Killarmy)
Beretta 9 aka Kinetic 9 from
the legendary Killarmy is speculating on releasing a
solo project. He wants the fans to decide if in 2012
they would buy a solo project from him. A great
producer as well as lyricist (as evident in
his large list of discography), this question should
not be difficult to answer, show your support or
feedback by going to
Kinetic's Facebook and leave a "like" or live a
comment.

Wu-Sciples - Last Supper
Inspired Wu-Tang Clan Art
To commemorate the 20th
anniversary of the Wu-Tang Clan, illustrator Adam
Hathorn has created a ten color print of the group
titled Wu-Sciples and based on "The Last Supper."
Hathorn, aka Honkey Kong, was commissioned to create
the work by Two Rabbits Studios. The late Big Baby
Jesus is front and center, of course, and even
Cappadonna makes it into the picture.

New Update:
INTell - The Boy Wonder Interview
Born
with a silver spoon? better yet born with a Wu
imprint, INTell
aka Dontae Hawkins was Born & Raised in Staten
Island, NY. Anyone and everyone deep into Wu-Tang by
now would know INtell is the son of U-God, one of
the founding members of legendary Wu-Tang Clan. So
Dontae has an automatic passage and access to music
and the Wu fans one would say, he didn’t get into
music right away, infact it may come as a surprise to
some but U-God was not initially keen on his son
following his footstep in the rap game and did very
little to encourage him, but if it is in your DNA
what more can you do? First album he actually did
listen to Wu-Tang Clan's "Enter the 36 Chambers"
and this was not even given to him by his dad but
a friend. Around 2005, INTell's best friend and
fellow group member DruGunn$ approached him about
doing music, leading to numerous random freestyles
with friends to late night studio sessions in
Brooklyn. Upon practicing and perfecting his craft
iNTeLL decided to take the craft seriously and
started putting out several mixtapes around
2006.
Around that same time, he was
studying and majoring in film production, and
he
begun to show off his skills as a cinematographer
and editor, directing an editing his own music
videos as well as a few other artists. While the
likes of Young Justice (GZA's son), SunGod
(Ghostface Killah's son), Boy Jones (O'l Dirty
Bastard's son) and a few more have had the
opportunity to shine and be seen via collaboration
and features on released Wu-Tang projects, INTell's
recognition obviously includes the fact that he is
the son of U-God but this mainly comes from his hard
work, likeable and unique style and his continued growth
lyrically with the projects he has been putting out
for free over the years which by now amounts to 6 - 10
releases.
INTell's reason for doing music is simple, for
respect and love for the artform, he would probably
accept a record if offered to him but speaking to
him it was obvious his primary goal is making it
big in the film industry as far as directing,
producing and doing it in Hollywood, music is still
part of the picture for him as he still plans on
doing it regardless of how far Hollywood takes him.
In order to find out more about
this intelligent young man, Wu-International
got in touch with INTell in this exclusive interview
as he tells us of his humble beginnings, Wu-Tang,
being the song of U-God, music, life, aspirations
and what have you,
Enjoy!
Ill
Knob has been around longer than most can remember,
coming from the group KGB who were once part of
Wu-Tang Management and Protect Ya Neck records, Ill
Knob, the most known face of the group then, met The
RZA at a record store in the 90s, RZA sent him off
to Mook and he and his group got working with 4th
Disciple, resulting in a couple of released singles. Knob
traveled with the Wu-Tang Clan family to California
to work on albums from such Wu affiliates as Deadly
Venoms, Wu-Syndicate, Shyheim and Sunz Of Man.
Coming from Coney Island, Brooklyn, Knob fell in
love with California's relaxed atmoshpere and
decided to live there.
A
bi-coastal heritage and coming up during the golden
era of hip-hop, Ill Knob has grown as an artists,
been around hip-hop’s elite and studied their
successes, he is applying their strategies,
reinventing his own and using his own unrelenting
drive to succeed with his own musical mission: to be
respected as a true artist. Still managed by his
producer and manager; Storm, who also managed the
likes of Mobb Deep, Deadly Venoms, Sam Scar, Rufus
Blaq, and more.
His latest projects have been a group
project with new group Killah Shark but he has
mainly been focusing lately on his upcoming solo
project, which he says will also be his last as he
got a number of things on his plate, find out where
and what Ill Knob has been up to, a little history
to the formation of his group KGB, and Killah Shark and their current
status, and his plans for the future. Enjoy
Happy
Wu Year! Setting this year off with a bang is the
long overdue Popa Wu interview the fans have been
requesting. If anyone can say he’s known the Wu Tang
Clan from day one, then it’s Popa Wu. If anyone can
say he’s part of the Wu fam literally … again it’s
Popa Wu, being family to about half of the Generals
and a number of Killa Beez, Popa Wu is
considered a father figure by all. Popa Wu was
commercially introduced to the world on Raekwon’s
"North Star" in ’95 and on Ghostface Killah’s "All
That I Got Is You" in ’96. On these contributions we
already heard hints of the man’s influence on the
Clan members and of his 5% teachings, but it was
only on “Wu-Tang Foreverr”
we fully got an idea of how much the Generals
appreciated the man and esteemed his lessons as they
asked him to do the intro on this album:
"Wu-Revolution", a 7 minutes long RZA beat solely
built for Popa Wu to aim his wisdom to the youth
with an ear for all things Wu, filled with 5%
teachings and terminology.
Since
then he went on numerous tours with the Clan,
released a compilation album titled “Visions of the 10th Chamber”
in 2000 where he introduced the world to his own
chambers within the Wu followed by a second
installment later on in 2008. He has been featured
on countless albums from Wu-Tang Clan members,
affilaites as well as other artists, such as
Masta Killa's second LP “Made In Brooklyn”,
Lord Jamar’s (Brand Nubian) “The
5% Album” and laced "Only
Built 4 Cuban Linx II...” seamlessly with Rae’s classic
OBFCL on its intro "Return of the North Star”.
There have been recent
talks of
a Popa
Wu DVD,
The 5% Story which is a documentary film that
explores the life of a man who has existed behind
the shadows, yet has been a pivotal influence to the
greatest and most far reaching rap group of all
time: The Wu-Tang Clan. There seems to be a lot on
the plate for 2012, he mentioned he was planning on
publishing a book on the public premiere of
“Wu: The Story of the Wu-Tang in NYC” some time
back, he is also working on a number of projects
musically as well as the much talked about
Ol' Dirty Bastard movie.
With
all this in mind and curious on what is still to
come from one of the most influential character in
the Wu camp, Wu-International had the honor and
privilege to talk to and learn from Freedom Allah
aka Popa Wu.. Enjoy!
Now the year 2011 is getting
closer to its end, we decided we wanted to take our
time to shine some light on one of the most
anticipated projects of this year: Bronze Nazareth’s
sophomore album “School For The Blindman”. As so
many others we enjoyed the album that much that we
decided to dedicate the whole week to this album and
the man behind it. We are very proud to say Bronze
Nazareth agreed to fully participate in this so
together we could give you the works !
Today we start with Bronze
breaking down the first half of the album in detail,
tomorrow you’ll get the story behind the second half
of the album with some exclusive bonuses as the
icing on the cake. Join us and Bronze this entire
week … School is now in session!
Bronze Nazareth - Outside
Productions Review: Notes From The Bronzeman III
[Day 5: Graduation - Residents Viewpoint Part 3]
As our Bronze week is running to its
end, we wanted to use this opportunity to thank Bronze
Nazareth for cooperating and working with us to
bring the fans this exclusive week, we also felt it was the right time to not only look at his
“Blindman” album but to also look back at some of his finest
work with other artists in and outside of the Wu camp. As you
all realize Bronze’s number of output has been impressive over
the last years. So Reccollectah and Dark 7 Invader ran through
all of them to handpick some of their favorite Bronze joints
of the past years including productions he had done for the
likes of The RZA, Raekwon, Cilvaringz, Timbo King,
Jedi Mind Tricks, Immortal Technique and much more. Here’s what Bronze had to say about their
selection, Enjoy!!
