Interview

No introduction needed, if you don't know who Dom Pachino is by now then you probably never will, and you probably know nothing about the first Puerto Rican Wu-Tang Clan affiliate putting it down with Killarmy from day one, worse still, your MTV head probably don't know about the 3 classic Killarmy group albums, 5 solid solo efforts, 2 side projects, a DVD and 2 Team Napalm group projects. Guess what else you don't know? the upcoming P.R. project, the Rice & Beans album, or could it possible be the current roster of Team Napalm?

One thing you should definitely know however is that Dom P is the hardest working artist in hip-hop, Period! and yes, the next best thing in hip-hop and music!!! Watch this space... El tiempo ahora está!!!

In mist of a hectic schedule, We got connected with Dom P for this exclusive and informative interview, Enjoy....

Peace, I like to say thanks first and foremost for taking the time to answer these questions, and will also point out that nothing will be altered, edited or changed when this is published online.

Wu-International:
Most of our fans already know about you, your work and affiliations, so I am not going to bore you by asking you same questions all over again, what the fans are mostly interested in knowing is what you have been up to lately, so P how are you and what’s new?
Dom Pachino:
Well I’m a workaholic so there's a lot going on, 1st is a PR TERRORIST PROJECT called terrorist shit expect that soon as a preparation to the RICE AN BEANZ, trying to complete the life of a performer 2 DVD, my clothing line DIVINO which is an upscale militant apparel, a best of napalm LP, and a CRUNCH LO project, and of course my masterpiece RICE AN BEANZ its a real stand out!

Wu-International:
Cool, So "Rice & Bean" is going to be your next major project, why have you called it "Rice & Beans"?
Dom Pachino:
Well I was raised on my moms rice and beanz so it was a part of my growth as this album is plus I blessed the album with more of a Latin influence than on my other albums, as far as production & other Latino artist, so now when people think rice and beanz not only it taste good, it sounds good too!

Wu-International: I also heard it will be your first major release, or should I say non napalm or independent release? Is this true and what label will this album be released on?
Dom Pachino: Yes it will be MAJOR but it will also be NAPALM, what you niggas think I been doing all this time building the napalm brand? but it will be a merger between napalm an a not to be mentioned yet company, due to thingz being worked out its all politics, but my business mind is sick so it must all be structured right nah mean!

Wu-International: Please tell us the featured guest so far?
Dom Pachino:
Thus far I have ISLORD, CRUNCH LO, THIRSTIN HOWL, BLOCK McCLOAD, GOLDEN CHILD, singer CASANDRE I’m currently working on and more!

Wu-International: Who are responsible for the production?
Dom Pachino:
Well I have dub sonata, and ya gonna have to wait and see..  sorry, it will be a 100% Napalm production recorded @napalm studio, I'm putting this together piece by piece pretty much by my self real carefully.

Wu-International: When do you plan to release the album?
Dom Pachino:
I’m shooting for the end of the summer I’ve been working on it for 4 months already its the longest project so far I ever worked on its a real pain in my azz but its hard making music this good my dude.

Wu-International: Do you have a favourite track on the album so far? Something special you think people should look for?
Dom Pachino: Yes the title song is super dope with a shot of bacardi ya herd!

Wu-International: How does this album compare lyrically and beat wise to the others?
Dom Pachino: It don't, its a more mature me, beats that I used to like ain't the same as the ones I like now its weird but I'm growing as an artist and I hope my fans are growing with me,  its hard, its militant fly gangsta shit with a twist of salsa, and reggaeton.

Wu-International: A lot of people credit the entire Wu-fam with writing some of the more cryptic lyrics in hip-hop where the fans have to listen and sometimes research to find the level of some of the messages behind the songs. Do you ever feel that you have to write your lyrics for a global audience now, sometimes toning things down and simplifying it to overcome language and culture barriers?

Dom Pachino: Yeah that's what I been doing because on a larger scale I wanna reach the masses so you have to simplify the lyrics because they ain't gonna play shit that they gotta try to figure out on the radio all day that's 4 damn sure but I'ma still sprinkle a jewel in on them an I will always be a lyrical mc so don't get it curled!

Wu-International: From the Killarmy to the Dom Pachino albums, do you think they have been an ideological shift? How has your agenda changed since say Silent Weapons to Beans & Rice?
Dom Pachino: B4 I was rapping not knowing how big it would become now that I seen the results I'm trying to make it as big as it can possibly be I'm trying to go above water with this shit killarmy was a great underground group but we couldn't go above water because of our content so my plan as a solo artist is to slide in the game on some camo shit lighten it up a lil once I got the worlds attention then hit them with the heavy content again because now there gonna wanna listen to me. we also as a group had cats that wasn't out 4 our best interest working on our project that was content with us doing our numbers which were great but not our full potential.

Wu-International: We are not really going to go into the Wu Latino thing as everyone probably feels the same way, Reggaeton however is now the contemporary trend brought in by Latinos, are you going to tap into that reggaeton market?
Dom Pachino: Yup on the RICE AN BEANZ.

Wu-International: Do you speak Spanish? If so would you ever make a full song in Spanish?
Dom Pachino:
My Spanish is not the best but my women is teaching me every day but that ain't gonna stop me from repping 4 my people yo, soy boriqua ya herd meeeeeeee!

Wu-International: Most people are not aware of your production skills, but you have blessed some of your songs on your albums with solid beats, how did you get into producing? And have you laced beats for anyone else other than yourself?
Dom Pachino: I started about five years ago on a ASR-X I produce who's the Spanish kid an the rules an a couple more on that machine, but lately I'm so biz running a label an being an artist put it this way I can't do it all u know when I put the mic down I'll get more involved with production, nah I never produced 4 anyone outside the team but I got heat in the stash so get at me but no gwop no hip-hop lol.

Wu-International: What in your opinion is your best work to date, and why?
Dom Pachino:
I like all my work but I got favourite songs on each project more than a favourite project. too many to name. let the fan decide, but unreleased was a good well put together project in my opinion.

Wu-International: I have to give it up to you, you are one hard working man, with your albums, compilations and DVDs released independently, Was it a conscious decision on your part not to sign to any major label?
Dom Pachino: Yes it was, I wanted to build up my stock kinda like credit the more you build it up the more you’re worth so I figure I sell records on my own so when a company is interested in me they have to buy into the franchise as oppose to just being an artist it gives me more freedom and of course more gwop, but in my case I had no other choice being that we had no more label situation after loud folded and ain't no so called fam was hollaring to make anything happen so I was left to fence 4 my own an that's exactly what I did, I damn sure wasn't gonna look 2 the sky, As u see I'm the only member of killarmy that has been consistently dropping projects,  9th prince dropped a joint but even he did that himself, no one was trying to help. so it was NAPALM or nothing no music DVDs nada, and I promised to keep my fans fed so I did it myself.

Wu-International: You are considered to be a very lyrical and versatile artist on the underground, do you really feel that you have been given the credit you truly deserve, despite all the strides you have made and the many milestones you have accomplished as an artist? How has the industry been to you?
Dom Pachino: Hell no, I haven't been credited 4 all my hard work and the industry can suck my dick, talent don't mean shit in this game right now, only thing that matters is budgets and chances are they don't care what I've done in the past.

Wu-International:
You probably get this question all the time, but sorry I couldn’t resist asking, Killarmy!! One of my favourite groups of all time, can the fans ever expect another album from the group with all members present?
Dom Pachino:
It would be great but its not likely, sorry my soldiers.

Wu-International: Don’t mean to bring this up either, but everyone has been speaking on it, and I would rather hear it from the horses mouth, there have been a number of speculations online and corner shops about you falling out with 9th Prince, could you shed some light on this issue and also tell us what your current relationship is with 9th Prince?
Dom Pachino: The biz destroyed an 18 yr old friendship amongst other things but life goes on and everything happens 4 a reason.

Wu-International: You have a new click now, Team Napalm, the roster is forever changing, could you kindly tell us about the group, how it was formed and the current and up to date line-up of the members please?
Dom Pachino: NOT A GROUP, I'll never be in a group again. 4 the record, Team Napalm is my troops you see me with at my shows, in the streets, taking care of biz behind the scenes 4 me etc... I recently cleaned house so all the cats that was on the invasion album are no longer on the team except for Crunch Lo, Due to me weeding out who was gonna ride to the end and who was an opportunist. Repp Napalm one day and another company the next, I need niggas that keep it 100% all day, every day till we reach our level and don't abandon ship the 1st storm you know. So if you see a nigga dropping an album and it don't have a Napalm logo on it don't support it on my strength, Ya herd!!

Wu-International: Talking of groups, what is the story with you being a member or part  of The Reavers?
Dom Pachino: Fuck No!! It was a feature that was advertised as me being a member but that's the biz I'm in u know.

Wu-International: No doubt, cos from the outside looking in, the Reavers album was not like a group effort but rather more like a compilation of like minded individuals thrown together, will there be a follow up to the first album?
Dom Pachino:
Ask The Reavers that question next!

Wu-International: I recently saw the cover art for “Life of a Performer 2” DVD, when will that come out and what exclusives can we expect from it?
Dom Pachino: Its almost done, looking at late summer release on it, you have to wait and see it.

Wu-International: Not every artist can claim to have toured where you have, Brazil, Africa, Portugal etc, where would you say you enjoyed touring the most?
Dom Pachino:
BRAZIL, It was like home, I'm loved and well respected there, Peace to my  RZO niggas, Sandro and Alion, All my Sao Paulo niggas in the Favela.

Wu-International:
Shogun Assassin and Beretta 9 repped Killarmy on the Wu-Tang Killa Beez 10th anniversary tour in Europe a couple of months back, was there any reason you did not make it there?
Dom Pachino:
No 1 holla at me, the cats who put it together or my niggas. I would love to have toured Europe so all promoters hit me up at dompachino@gmail.com so we can hook up a Dom Pachino tour.

Wu-International: The combination of you and 4th Disciple is crazy, with the trends of producers lacing a full album for an artist these days (e.g. Muggs & GZA/Genius, Dangermouse & MF Doom etc), which producer(s) would you consider doing a full album with apart from 4th?
Dom Pachino: Muggs, Kanye, Havoc, Premo

Wu-International: Do you have any protégés that you're grooming to be hot Emcee after you?
Dom Pachino: Its a lot in store at Napalm recordings, Wait and see

Wu-International: If you weren't in the hip hop business, what would you be doing?
Dom Pachino: Boxing, acting, construction, real estate

Wu-International:
So after the album, what’s next for Dom P? as in movies, shows, Mixtapes etc?
Dom Pachino:  The big screen movies, mixtapes, clothing, Shows, the whole damn things.

Wu-International: Thanks very much for your time, anything else you might want to add that we missed? Any final words for the people who are reading this, Shout outs etc?
Dom Pachino: Must say its been my best interview yet, Greetings to Wu-International and I've been following the love you guys been showing me its well appreciated.
