Leathafase
From The Hillside Scramblers have been heard on a number of Wu-Tang
related projects, most notably that of U-God, From U-Gods first
album "Godlen Arm Redemption" to the "Supa Nigga EP" and lately "Mr. Xcitement", Leathafase
has contributed both lyrical and also on the production tip
to these albums.
Wu-international caught up with Leathafase and heard what he
had to say about the newly developed problem or beef with
U-God, Upcoming projects, Wu-Tang Clan... so on and so
forth, Enjoy!
I like to
say thanks first and foremost for taking the time to answer
these interviews and I would like to say, nothing will be
altered, edited or changed when this is published online.
Dark 7 Invader: How have
you been?
Leathafase: I'VE BEEN
GOOD...
Dark 7 Invader:
You have been around for a while now, when can we expect to
hear an album from you?
Leathafase: right now...
I’m finishing up some new songs to add to the pile I have
now... next I’ll pick the best songs and create my album...
but I am currently unsigned, so I gotta get this solo
deal...
Dark 7 Invader: Wu
fans know you through U-God, how long have you known U-God
and how did you meet him?
Leathafase: well, I knew
u-god for about 7 years now I think? I met him a couple of
times, but I really got to know him when I met him through
one of my dogs from my block...
Dark 7 Invader:
Leathafase, Leatha Face, or leathaface, I have seen it on
difference credits spelled differently, which one is it?
Leathafase: LEATHAFASE

please tell us more about your self, where are you from
and how long have you been rhymin?
Leathafase:
I’m from STATEN ISLAND NEW YORK. PARK HILL AVE. THAT'S
WHERE I'M FROM... KILLAH HILL PROJECTS. I’ve been
rhyming since I was 9 years old...
Dark 7 Invader:
What’s
the situation right now with the Hill Side Scramblers,
will there be another album?
Leathafase:
well, we're also workin' on the new scramblers album
right now as we speak... this time, we're takin' our
time and gettin' some real music done. but now we're on
our own, so it's a lil' harder because we're still new
to the music scene...

Dark 7 Invader: With
your resume and skills, why do you think its taking long to
get a record deal?
Leathafase: well, I
really didn’t get to meet the right people to help me get
that deal. I was always in the background when it came to
that. I heard that a lot of people are feelin' my music,
some even wanted to sign me... but if I knew which direction
to go, I would have made more progress quicker.
but I was never shown that way...
Dark 7 Invader:
With technology these days most ppl actually release their
music online, or rather release a mixtape, can we expect
something from you soon if you don’t get any deal anytime
soon?
Leathafase: actually I
am almost finished my first solo mixtape... it will be
distributed however I got to do it... I’m ready to burn
right now! but it'll be real soon...
Dark 7 Invader:
That is very good to know, a lot of fans have been waiting
to hear something from you. Being Latino, What is your take
on the reggaeton movement blowing up right now
Leathafase: I am really
proud of my people right now... we are gonna show the world
what it really is on the Latin side. I think that reaggaeton
is a good look now for all my latin brothers and sisters...
we are as equal in talent as anybody else. I’m gonna bring
some new fire to this industry real soon dog!
Dark 7 Invader:
That’s cool, do you know Dom Pachino from Killarmy? He has
been puttin in work from git go, now they got this group
called Wu-tang Latino, you heard of them?
Leathafase: yes I do
know DOM P. we used to go to high school together in the
same class. he's a good dude, and also a very talented latin
brother. and yeah! I heard of all that WU-LATINO... DOM P
should be the first artist on that label for real. he earned
and deserves that spot! he's the only Latino that the WU fam
has ever put out. as long as his contracts are good, he
should be able to do his damn thing on that label for real!
Dark 7 Invader:
That is something everyone has been saying about Dom P
getting on that wu-tang Latino label or getting involved
somehow, regardless of it just being dedicated to reggaeton
Only. Anyway, We know you are
very close to U-God, who else within the Wu-tang clan/killa
beez or affiliate are you also close to?
Leathafase: well,
actually I’m not close to U-GOD like that, nor any of the
other members... but I do know them and give them their
respect as long as they give me mine...
Dark 7 Invader:
Ok, let us talk about the album you are working on, do u
have a title for it yet and who will be featuring on it, as
in guest spots and productions?
Leathafase: right now I
don't currently have a title for it yet... as far as
features, I got all my SCRAMBLERS on it: INF BLACK, DEZERT
EAGLE, KAWZ, KING JUST AND BLACK ICE... I am still looking
to do more collabo's in the future with other artists, but
as far as now, I’m just creatin' all the time... as far as
production, I got my dog D.J. HOMICIDE, 4TH DISCIPLE and
myself as the main producers... but I am gettin' more and
more beats from all over. I am open to hear anyone who has
to offer their beat makin' talent to me right now... I feel
as if I can help underdog producers come up in the music
game, just by tearing their tracks to shreds...
Dark 7 Invader: Oh that
is great, so for all those producers out there reading this,

Thanks for that, Must be late/early out there? what do you
get up to when not recording?
Leathafase: SCRAMBLING!
HUSTLING! gettin' fucked up and makin' that dough! educating
my 9 year old son! and gettin' ready to end rap careers!!!
Dark 7 Invader: One or 2
more questions and we done, would you consider yourself more
of an MC or producer?
Leathafase: oh,
definitely an MC... producing to me is like playing a video
game. in fact, making beats actually took the place of my
game time... but I am a lyricist first...
Dark 7 Invader:
Having featured with a number of heavy weights in the game,
what would you say was your best verse or which track is
your favourite if you have one?
Leathafase: one of my
favourite verses is on the song "RESCUE" off of the WU
CHRONICLES 2 cd... and I also like "RUMBLE" too! my fans
love that verse to death, so I guess that's one of my
favourites as well...
Dark 7 Invader: Ok,
thanks, last question, The fans definitely consider you Wu
Affiliated/killa bee due to your connection with U-God, do u
consider yourself a Killa Bee?
Leathafase: ABSOLUTLY
NOT! I am LEATHAFASE, a HILLSIDE SCRAMBLER! I do not wish to
be affiliated with the WU! I am from a different breed of
STATEN ISLAND... I have a bew sound for the masses to
hear... I don't do kung-fu or shit like that I’m tellin' my
story from a whole different angle. I just featured on U-GOD's
albums, as well as produced and written songs with him... it
probably could've happened, but niggas be actin' like
homosexuals!
so I’m just starting my own army. an army of nothing but
plasma spitters! great music, real life music, dance music,
educational music, music for the women! I can write it
all!!!

Thanks for the honest answer, Your music is banging so
you still have your fans regardless, I know that was my
last question but I was curious to ask based on your
last reply, Is there any beef/misunderstanding with you
and U-God?
Leathafase:
of course there is! BEEF! but he started it, so I guess
I got to end him, I mean it!!! my first mixtape song
release will explain it all... plus my live interview on
chambermusik.com that's coming up real soon. so we'll
see how long he can last in this rap game now!!! not
another single, album or video can save him now!
LEATHAFASE & THE HILLSIDE SCRAMBLERS will destroy U-GOD's
music career FOREVER!
he's better off running back to RZA with his tail tucked
between his legs! but I don't even think the WU needs
him. he doesn’t have no Xcitement to him or his music as
a solo artist... he disrespected me and my SCRAMBLERS!
NOW HE PAYS THE PRICE WITH HIS CAREER, IN AN ALL OUT
LYRICAL MASSACRE! HE WILL LOOSE!!! the new song we will
